OVERVIEW

The Inca Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu is one of the most popular and exciting alternative treks to Machu Picchu. This trek is full of adventure; combining the adventure sports of hiking, mountain biking, zip lining, and rafting.

You will hike along Inca trails which are still now continuing to be discovered. The route is full of adrenaline, spectacular views and jungle covered mountains which lead you to the majestic Wonder of the World, Machu Picchu.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Cusco – Santa María:  kilometer 53 cycling (optional canoeing: 100 soles from April to November)

The beginning of this tour begins with the pick-up from your hotel, you will have a 1-hour bus ride and

to Ollantaytambo. We will will stop at a small local restaurant where you can refresh,
get a quick meal or a snack, and buy anything you may have
forgotten to buy in Cusco, after that we will have to return to the bus and travel an hour and
half to Abra Málaga, which is located 4,350 meters above sea level. We will
provide all the equipment needed (bike, gloves, elbow pads, knee pads and helmet),
followed by a briefing by the experienced guide. Then we will start a fun
ride, all the way downhill to Santa Maria. On the way there, you will be able to see different landscapes,
panoramic views and different micro-climates. You will arrive at the town of Santa María for lunch.
After lunch, you will have the afternoon free to rest or explore the town. It’s optional

for approximately 2 hours (25 km) includes class 2 and class 3 rapids. At night

Day 2: Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes

We will begin at 6:00 am with an energetic breakfast. After this we will go to the
Zipline camp so you can enjoy this activity for approximately 3 hours in the
forest. There are 6 different cables, the goal of one is to learn to control yourself in the
Cable, as quickly as you want, and then you will become an expert in being able to
make Superman, head down, you can also enjoy the Hammocks.
You will be in an even more tropical climate as you approach the ancient city. They will take a short
drive from Santa Teresa to Lucmabamba, where you will join a local family. After this, we will go on the coffee tours for two and a half hours, this tour will be close to the camping location, local populations show what the entire process of making coffee is like where
you can be part of this and get your own coffee bean. Depending on the season
There will be different activities to enjoy with the people who live in this small town.

Dinner

Day 3: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes – Ollantaytambo – Cusco

In the morning you will have two options to climb Machu Picchu; take a walk
approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes or take the bus approximately 30 minutes.
Once you arrive, the guide will take you and brief you for 2 hours around the Citadel of
Machupicchu, will enrich your knowledge with Inca history. There is a lot of information that
our guide will provide for you.
After the guide, you will have free time to explore the citadel on your own. If you want
to climb Huayna Picchu, a very popular climb with spectacular views, we recommend
to book three months in advance. (There is only a daily limit of 400 visitors per day) The round trip walking to the top of the
Huayna Picchu is approximately an hour and a half. It is definitely worth it, for the
Stunning views from the top! Another alternative is to climb Machu Picchu Mountain. This is
a new option that allows you to see the Citadel of Machu Picchu from the highest peak. This
Less crowded, so you don’t have to book in advance. (It has an extra cost of $20)
You will have to descend to Aguas Calientes in time to take the train back to
Ollantaytambo, 1 hour and 45 min. approximately, then you should leave the station
train to take the bus back to Cusco, approximately 1 hour and a half to get to the
city.
